Time To Get Tick Smart

Watch out for brown ticks
This month as the tick season begins we are focusing on making sure everyone has taken precautions to ensure their pet stays safe. Ticks can cause a number of serious outcomes for animals including diseases such as Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

The brown tick is one of the most common types to keep an eye out for and can be potentially avoided with the monthly use of one of the many treatments that are readily available. Frontline Plus, Advantix and Revolution are very effective treatments that should be used along with daily tick checks that should be performed by all owners.

The surrounding environment can also be maintained to reduce tick numbers by keeping backyards and gardens in good condition . Owners should be aware of the areas their pets' are playing. Areas of long grass are where ticks can hide, lying in wait to attach themselves as your pet passes by.
